Summer in a Jar

duvall wa, safe canning methods, canning class, summer in a jarSince I’ve been on an erratic healthy living binge and started a garden this year; it just made good sense to take a canning class; so I signed myself and a girlfriend up with Summer in a Jar.

This past week I attend a class taught by Terrie from Summer in a Jar. The class was phenomenal, I never knew how much there was to learn about safe canning methods and was surprised by how much science is put into canning.

From there we rolled up our sleeves and got to work in the kitchen; cleaning, skinning, cutting, cooking tomatoes then stuffing, sealing, boiling the cans!

It was a fabulous evening with a fabulous teacher! I highly recommend to everyone taking a canning course with Terrie from Summer in a Jar.

*Notice I keep saying “safe canning”, nearly anyone can put food in a can. But not everyone can put food in a can that will be safe to eat a year later.
