Cabbage Patch Stew

Great fall harvest recipe, or even in the middle of winter. Very hearty and great with biscuits. This is one of my favorties!

1 lb. ground beef
1 sm. onion, thinly sliced
1 1/2 c. coarsely chopped cabbage
1 (16 oz.) can stewed tomatoes
1 can red kidney beans
1 c. water
1 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. pepper
1/2 pkg. chili seasonings

Cook and stir ground beef in Dutch oven until light brown, drain. Add onions and cabbage. Cook and stir until vegetables are light brown. Stir in tomatoes, kidney beans (with liquid), water, salt, pepper and chili seasonings. Heat to boiling, reduce heat. Stir. Cook uncovered for 10 minutes. Cover and cook 10 minutes longer. Serves 4 to 6 people.
