Every week I have a splendid time volunteering at the Duvall Farmers Market. I’m amazed by how many hundreds of people from our community come down every week. It’s as though it’s their weekly family outing.
This past Thursday Molly, from Calhoun Family Fruits, brought the watermelons for the “Duvall Farmers Market – Watermelon Eating Contest”, it sure was a hit with the kids on this gorgeous day.
The Calhoun Family Fruits come from the Wapato Valley (near Yakima), their seasonal fruits consist of Cherries, Apricots, Peaches, Pluits (a plum apricot hybrid; yum, yum!), nearly every kind of apple and fresh picked corn.
Next week’s Farmers Market highlight is again for the kiddos; George’s Bakery will be bringing in five dozen donuts, frosting and sprinkles for “Donut Decorating”.
The Duvall Farmers Market runs from May thru Sept on Thursday’s from 3pm-7pm located on Brown Street between Family Grocery, Ixtapa’s Restaurants and True Value Hardware. Be sure to let these businesses know that you appreciate them during the market days and beyond.
You can find me at the info booth, I encourage you to stop by and say “hi”.
